今週の金曜日にはもう9月ですね。
今朝は出勤前に時間が少しありましたので、前にご紹介した星占いで瞬間英作文をやってみました。結果は、、、惨憺たるものでした。トホホ。
日本語を見ながら、私がつぶやいた英語が１）です。
２）は、英語のサイトに載っていた表現です。
できるかぎり近道で行くことを正当化するために、信じられないほど長い、それとらしい言い訳を口にできる人たちがいるものです。
1) Some people can make the longest excuses to justfy going on a shortcut.
2) Some folk seem to be able to make the longest of philosophical leaps to justify the shortest of possible cuts.
the longest of /the shortest of という表現は私の中にありませんでした。
それと、philosophical leaps ですか。。。英語が先にあって、日本語に翻訳をしているので、日本語の「それとらしい言い訳」という訳語が素晴らしいですね。。
でも、あなたの人生のどこかで起こっているのは、それとは逆です。
1) However, what is happening in your life is the opposite.
2) Yet somewhere, in your life, the opposite is taking place.
うわーこれ日本語訳にひきずられてしまいました！
今あなたに求められているのは、長く困難な、曲がりくねった道を進み続けることです。
1) What you are looking for now is to keep going ona a long, winding path.
2) You're being encouraged to stick with a journey that has been long, winding and arduous.
arduous（困難な、骨の折れる、根気のいる）知らなかった。。覚えます。
これまでの道のりが平坦（へいたん）でなかったからというだけで、この先の道がデコボコしているとはかぎりません。
1) Jet because you have walked on the flat path, which does not mean your futuer way is same.
2) But just because progress hasn't been smooth, doesn't necessarily mean that the way ahead will be bumpy.
ただ、それに関して言えば、長い時間をかけること以外にできることはほとんどありません。今日は、あなたの時間が有意義に使われていることを確かめてください。
1) However, in terms of that, there is little other than spending a long time. Today, please make sure your time is useful.
2) It's simply that, when it comes down to it, there's little substitute for putting in the hours. Today, make sure yours are well spent.
when it comes down to it むむむ、この表現いいですね。会議等で使えます。覚えなければ。

こういう感じで毎日隙間時間を使っていろいろな表現や単語を勉強しています。それにしてもマダマダ全然だめだな。私。
